This highly collectable and rarely available boxed set is the R4168 complete set of 3, LNER Silver Jubilee coaches. These Limited Edition items are now extremely scarce and this must be one of the few remaining opportunities to purchase an as new set in a nearly as new box. These models are in mint condition and still individually wrapped in their tissue paper inside each separately labelled box. The quality of these models could not be improved upon and they remain in factory fresh condition. The 3 coaches come in a separate full length full colour outer sleeve, also shown in the digipic, and the set comprises 2 first class composite coaches and one 3rd class brake coach. These models were only available for a short time in 2002 and due to demand sold out very quickly. They are an ideal match for the Hornby R312 class A4 ‘Silver Link’ locomotive, the R099 Silver Fox or any other of the Bachmann & Hornby LNER A4’s finished in the two tone Grey and silver livery.
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby Limited Edition R2278M Silver Jubilee Train Pack. This was a Special Order Train pack made in 2002 and just 1500 sets were made for worldwide distribution at that time. It has never been released again and the locomotive was never available as an individual item. The models are all in mint, factory fresh condition and are just as good as the day they were first despatched from the factory. The items have never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This rarely available set includes the LNER Pacific Class A4 4-6-2 steam locomotive ‘Silver King’ finished in three tone LNER livery. This item was constructed in the modern manner. The locomotive, numbered 2511, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Colour coded multi spoke wheels, wired handrails and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 8-wheel corridor tender that houses the motor is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the LNER insignia. It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling and also features the bright red buffer beam. The 3 colour matched Silver Jubilee coaches are rare enough in their own right and to obtain 3 in a set like this is extremely difficult. There are 2 numbered 1585 and a third un-numbered brake coach. All feature the Silver Jubilee head boards on either side and all are in just as good a condition as the locomotive that pulls them. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition. Inside the box, the original undamaged and sculptured surround protects all 5 models. The original Hornby instructions and the all important certificate numbered 622 of just 1500 also remains with this item. This model is just as good and complete as you could ever hope to obtain and is fast becoming impossible to obtain. A lovely, & very rarely available, set of models indeed.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
