Hornby R794 BR APT’ Advanced Passenger Train’ Class 370 Train Pack

This highly collectable and sought after model is the Hornby R794 British Railways Class 370 Advanced Passenger Train APT Train Pack that was introduced in the early 1980’s.  This is a totally boxed and complete 5 car train pack ready to be used on a layout.   It is in near mint undamaged condition and you are unlikely to find a better condition item.    This train pack is the much rarer 5-car ‘City of Derby’ APT model with the black window ends.  Unlike the original it was modelled upon, this train has beautifully survived the last thirty years or so unscathed.  The whole train is in superb unmarked condition, is nearly 60 inches long and consists of 5 cars: one power car, two parlour trailers and two driving trailers.  All roof top electrical insulators are in place and it would be impossible to obtain a much better condition item.  The much-required pantograph is also present in the box and clips to the model when it is in use.  None of the power cars were ever designed by Hornby to collect current from an overhead catenary system.   Constructed in the modern manner, the models have all transfers intact and the train is a very evocative model.  Featuring working headlights, coaches that actually tilt and highly detailed fitments, this model is just about as good as they come.   The original box is in a very bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition.  It is showing some light signs of age and wear on the edges but nothing untoward for a 30 year old item.  The original clear acetate front needs a spot of glue down the left hand side but my hands are too big to do this!    The moulded white polystyrene interior is undamaged and the train pack is complete with a copy of the original Hornby operating and maintenance instructions.   A really lovely item and very, very, scarce in this condition.

Being 30 years new, this item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.

We have used the expression near mint because even though the all of the wheels are bright, shiny and have deep flanges, there are the faintest signs that the model has been run.  We are being really picky here and could be mistaken.  The model was display stored and the very light marks we have mentioned may just have come from being slightly moved whilst sitting on rails in the display cabinet.  However it is best for us to mention it as the chances of finding one of these in totally unrun condition these days is pretty slim.

As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).

Graham Farish N gauge 1505 BR ex SR Spitfire steam tender locomotive

This highly collectable model is the extremely hard to get hold of Graham Farish 1505 model of the BR Battle of Britain or West Country Class ex SR, pacific steam locomotive Spitfire.  The model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new.  It has never seen or been on a layout and has only been test run for demonstration purposes.  This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in BR green livery with the correct, black, multi spoked wheels.  It is absolutely stunning.  The RN is 34066 and the model was available from 1978 onwards.   The model is just a beautifully made evocative item.  The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon.   It is fitted at the rear with the standard N gauge type coupling.  A small pin will need to be inserted on the locomotive draw bar as the small pressure pad that holds the draw bar in to the tender place has come adrift.  The original box is in a very tired condition because it was stored away in a cupboard whilst the model was beautifully presented in a display case.  The left hand box end flap has the original black label with the correct model number and description.  Inside the box, a cream coloured, vacuum formed, plastic surround protects the locomotive and the original paperwork is present.
