Hornby R2124 SR Southern region Schools Class Dulwich locomotive

This highly collectable and very powerful item is auction is for the Hornby R2124 model of the SR Southern Region Schools Class V steam locomotive ’Dulwich’.  This item is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new.  It has never seen, or been, on a layout.  This model is the very high quality Super Detail version designed in England and made by Hornby in China.  This rarely available 4-4-0 locomotive is finished in SR malachite green livery with white markings on the boiler and chassis.  Complete with the single chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct colour coded green driving wheels, it is absolutely stunning.  Originally released in 1999 for just one year and never re-released, this model has been constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 907, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Highly detailed copper pipe work, detailed cab interior gear and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item.  The model is just a beautifully made evocative item.  This is a tender powered model and gives excellent smooth and powerful running.  The nameplate features gold lettering on a scarlet background and is sharp and legible.  The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the SR designation.   It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling and scarlet buffer beam.  The original box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition.  The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects and inside the box a white moulded polystyrene surround protects the locomotive.  Remaining with this model are the original instructions numbered R2124030999, the still sealed super detail pack and the full length monochrome graphics card that protects the item whilst it is still in the box.  The condition of the whole model is as good as you could ever hope to obtain and you are unlikely to source a better item.

This item predates the latest digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.

As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
