Hornby R842 LMS crimson Class 5 steam tender locomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R842 London Midland Scottish Region Class 5 steam locomotive. This item is in mint, factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first despatched from the factory. Apart from a short test run to ensure it works, it has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been display stored since new. This rarely available tender driven 4-6-0 model is finished in LMS crimson livery with gold lettering. Complete with the single chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct, black multi spoked wheels it is absolutely stunning. Only available for 1 year from 1978 and never re-released, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 4657, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, detailed cab interior and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel smooth sided none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked LMS with the matching gold coach line. The tender houses the motor and it is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp unfaded condition. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects. The model is protected inside the box by an undamaged, unmarked 2-part polystyrene surround. The original Hornby instructions & maintenance sheet numbered R842080379 remain inside the box and on the outside, the original price stickers remain in situ. The model is just as good a quality as you could hope to obtain.
The model is not DCC ready as its date of manufacture predates this but it should be an easy conversion with the correct Hornby digital chip if so desired.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
