Hornby R2020 Toplink BR A3 Flying Scotsman GSD steam locomotive

This highly collectable and very rare model is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby Toplink R2020 model of the BR/LNER A1/A3 class locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’.  Toplink is the name that Hornby applies to its top of the range most detailed models and this example is no exception.  The locomotive is finished in the design applicable to the BR period of 1961-1963 and is the only Hornby model ever made that features the German Smoke deflectors that were fitted to the real locomotive at this time.  This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in BR dark green livery and with the correct, black spoked wheels, it is absolutely stunning.  Only available for a 1-year period from 1997 and never re-released, this locomotive, numbered 60103, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Wired handrails, brass safety valves and red boiler bands are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item.  The 8-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon.   It houses the motor and is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is in an unfaded but quite tired condition & is correctly labelled.  The right hand box end flap has the original scarlet label still attached to it and this has the correct model number and description.  Inside the box, an undamaged, sculptured polystyrene surround protects the locomotive and tender.  The optional front coupling hook for the loco remains with this item as do the original Hornby instructions sheet numbered R202015497.   This model is not DCC ready but should be an easy conversion with the right Hornby chip.
