Hornby R037 BR ex LMS Class 8P Princess ‘Lady Patricia’ locomotive
This highly collectable model is the original and extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R037 model of the BR, previously London Midland & Scottish Railways, Class 8P Princess Class steam locomotive ‘Lady Patricia’. The model is in near mint factory fresh condition and has been display case stored since new. It has never seen or been on a layout. This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in BR deep blue livery and with the correct black spoked wheels it is absolutely stunning. Only available for a 1-year period between 1989 and never re-released, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 46210, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, white boiler bands and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative locomotive. The 6-wheel none corridor black chassis tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon. It houses the motor and, like the front of the engine, is fitted with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is in a bright, sharp unfaded condition. The right hand end of the box has the original label with the correct model number and description. Inside the box, a clear plastic moulded surround protects the locomotive. To complete the listing a copy of the original Hornby instructions/maintenance sheet is included with this listing. Please note that we have used the description near mint because whilst the item was on display, the driver and fireman figurines were attached to the cab floor but now that the driver has gone off duty, a very small amount of glue residue remains where he stood! A rare item indeed.
This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
