Hornby R817 Southern region Schools Class V 4-4-0 locomotive ‘Eton
This highly collectable model is the original and extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R817 Southern Region model of the Schools Class V steam locomotive ‘Eton’. The model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new. It has never seen or been on a layout. This rarely available 4-4-0 locomotive is finished in SR olive green livery and with the correct green spoked wheels, is absolutely stunning. Only available for a 1-year period from 1986 and never repeated, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 900, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, white boiler bands and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative locomotive. The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the Southern insignia. It houses the motor and is fitted with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is in a bright, unfaded and sharp condition. The right hand end of the box has the original label with the correct model number and description. Inside the box, an undamaged and sculptured two part polystyrene surround protects the locomotive. The full length, full colour graphics card that sits between the locomotive and the clear acetate front of the box is also included. To complete the item the original instructions numbered R81701091986 remain with this item.
This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
