Hornby R053 LNER Class B17 Footballers class Manchester United loco
This highly collectable model is the original and powerful Hornby R053 Footballers Class B17 LNER 4-6-0 mixed traffic steam locomotive Manchester United. Unbelievably, after all of these years, the alternative transfer sheet that allows the owner to select the alternative running names of Nottingham Forest, Arsenal or Liverpool and the associated alternative running numbers remain with this item. This locomotive/model is in mint factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first made. It has been display stored since new and apart from a test run, has never seen, or been, on a layout. This rarely available locomotive, numbered 2862, is finished in LNER green livery and with the correct factory colour coded and spoked wheels, it is absolutely stunning. This item was constructed in the modern manner and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, white boiler bands and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked LNER. It houses the motor and the tender and locomotive are each fitted with a Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is in a bright sharp fully intact condition. It is correctly labelled for the contents it protects. Inside the box, the 2 part undamaged white polystyrene moulding protects the model and the full length full colour undamaged graphics card that sits between the model and the clear acetate front of the box remains in place. The original Hornby still sealed packet that contains the driver and fireman figurines remains with this item. In all respects, this model is in exactly the condition you would wish to receive it and the original instructions numbered R05324101980 remain with this item. A rare item with all 3 of the alternative RN’s included.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
