Hornby R855 LNER Class A3 ‘Flying Scotsman’ Loco

This highly collectable and powerful item is the original & extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R855 LNER Class A3 steam locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’.  This model is the original version with the motor where it should be, in the locomotive!  It features the tender with the chuff chuff steam sound generator and the glowing fire box; neither of which have been tested or are guaranteed as the locomotive has not been run to try them out!   This item is in mint, factory fresh condition.  It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new.  This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in LNER green livery with white boiler bands.  Complete with the single chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct, green multi spoked wheels, it is absolutely stunning.  Only available for 2 years from 1976 and never re-released in this specification, this item was constructed in the modern manner.  This locomotive, numbered 4472, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Colour coded banjo dome, brass whistles and detailed cab interior are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item.  The 8-wheel corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked as LNER.  It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling.  The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp fully intact unfaded condition.  On the right hand end flap, the box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects.  Inside the box, the original, undamaged, sculptured, white polystyrene surround protects the locomotive. The full length silhouette graphics card that sits between the model and the clear acetate front of the box remain with this model.   To complete the model the original Hornby instructions numbered R855150476 remain with this model.  In all respects, this model is just as good as you could ever wish to obtain and it really is a lovely model for the discerning collector.

This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.

As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
