Hornby R857 BR Ivatt 2-6-0 Class 2 steam tender locomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R857 BR Ivatt Class 2 steam locomotive and matching tender. This item is in mint, factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first despatched from the factory. It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This rarely available 2-6-0 locomotive powered model is finished in BR black livery with white lettering. Complete with the single black chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct, black multi spoked wheels it is absolutely stunning. Only available for 2 years from 1975 and never re-released, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 46400, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Flush glaze side windows, detailed cab interior and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon and matching red and white coach lines. The tender does not house the motor and it is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded condition. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects and the labelled end has a cream tape repair along it’s hinged side. Inside the box, the original undamaged and sculptured white polystyrene surround protects the locomotive. The silhouette graphics card that sits between the model and the clear acetate front of the box remains with this model. The whole model is just as good and complete as you could ever hope to obtain.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
