Hornby R303 BR British Rail King Class King George II locomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R303 model of the British Rail BR ex GWR King Class steam locomotive ‘King George 11’. This model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new. It has never seen or been on a layout. This very rarely available 4-6-0 locomotive is finished in BR green livery and features the correct, black multi spoked wheels. It is absolutely stunning. Only available for a 1-year period in 1995, and never repeated, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 6005, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, double copper chimney and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon and double orange coach line. It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling and houses the motor for the model. The original box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition. It does have some surface scuffs. The box is still sealed across the correct label that is on the left hand side of the box and the acetate corners on the left hand side have been clear tape reinforced. Inside the box an undamaged, white, single piece vacuum formed moulding protects the locomotive. The original instructions numbered R30318595 and the still sealed packet that contains the driver and fireman figurines remain with this item. This model is in exactly the condition that you would wish to receive it and is just as complete an item as you would ever hope to obtain.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
