Hornby R353 BR ex LNER Class A4 Pacific Sir Ralph Wedgwood
This highly collectable model is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R353 Limited Edition model of the BR ex LNER Pacific A4 class ‘Sir Ralph Wedgwood. The model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new. It has never seen or been on a layout. This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in green livery and with the correct, black spoked wheels, it is absolutely stunning. Only available for a limited period in 1994, this locomotive, numbered 60006, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, red boiler bands and brass cab detailing are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 8-wheel corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the British Railways icon. It houses the motor and is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is in a bright, unfaded and sharp condition. It only has minor surface storage scuffs and has the proof of purchase Sir Ralph Wedgwood label on the back. Inside the box, a double-sided clear, sculptured surround protects the locomotive. The instruction sheet and the Limited Edition Certificate numbered 000609 remains with this rare model. This is a rare item and this would perfectly match other high quality LNER & BR A4 Pacific’s that we regularly sell in our Samicarken shop and on Ebay.
This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
