Hornby R075 LNER Class A3 Flying Scotsman 4472 with twin tenders.
This highly sought after and extremely collectable model is a Hornby R075 Limited Edition, LNER Class A3 4472 Flying Scotsman locomotive with twin, 8-wheel, green corridor tenders. Hornby made just 2800 of these superb models for worldwide distribution and it is only occasionally that they come onto the market place. This model reflects the running colours for the period 1966-1973. Two tenders were required at this time as the easy availability of coal and water was diminishing with the advent of diesel and electric motive power. Constructed in 1993, in the modern manner, this locomotive and both green tenders are finished in LNER green. The models are in absolutely mint, as new condition and they have never seen or been on a layout. It has been dry shelf stored since new and remains in its original factory fresh condition. The original presentation box that unfolds for display purposes is bright, sharp and correctly labelled for the models it contains. It is complete with the inner green facia card and the locomotive and tenders are protected in the box by a moulded and shaped vacuum formed base. This is a Limited Edition set and 5000 of these were scheduled to be built but in the end only 2800 were made. The original instructions and driver/fireman figurines remain with this item so if you’re looking for a complete present for the person who thinks he or she has got everything, then look no further. This locomotive would be a lovely addition to any discerning collector’s portfolio and we feel it extremely unlikely that you will find an example in a better condition than this magnificent item. A lovely item indeed but please note we have mentioned any Limited Edition certificate because this particular item does not have one!.
This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
