Hornby R2063 SR Southern Region Class A1X ‘Terrier’ tank locomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby Toplink R2063 SR, Southern Region, Class A1X 0-6-0T terrier steam tank locomotive. This is Marsh’s redeveloped 1911 model from the original 1872 Stroudley design. This item is in mint, factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first despatched from the factory. It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This is a very rare item indeed and this 0-6-0T model is finished in Southern region green livery with gold numbering. Complete with the single tall chimney, white coach line and the correct, black multi spoked wheels it is absolutely stunning. Only available for 1 year from 1998 and never re-released, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This ‘Freshwater’ locomotive, numbered 2, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, scarlet buffer beams and precise detailing are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, slightly sun faded, but fully intact condition. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects. Inside the box, the original cream coloured polystyrene moulding protects the model and the still sealed packet with the driver and fireman figurines remains in place. The whole item is just as good a quality as you could ever hope to obtain.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
