Hornby R373 BR Class 9F 2-10-0 Evening Star tender lcomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R373 British Rail Class 9F steam locomotive ‘Evening Star’. Evening Star is the last BR steam locomotive ever made in England and is afforded a place in history that can never change. This item is in mint, factory fresh condition. It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This rarely available 2-10-0 locomotive is finished in BR green livery with orange boiler bands. Complete with the double chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct, black multi spoked wheels, it is absolutely stunning. Only available for 2 years from 1988 and never re-released in this livery, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 92220, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Highly detailed copperwork, brass whistles and wired handrails are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel none corridor tender that houses the motor is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon. It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded condition and is still sealed across the labelled end. There is one mark in the bottom right hand corner where the glue residue from a price sticker remains slightly visible. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects. Inside the box, the original sculptured clear plastic surround protects the locomotive and tender. The original Hornby operating and maintenance sheet numbered R373171189 remains with this item. This is a very nicely kept example of this popular model and the lucky buyer will not be disappointed.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
