Hornby R374 southern Region Battle of Britain Class Spitfire

This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R374 Southern Region SR Battle of Britain or West Country locomotive ‘Spitfire’.  This item is in absolutely mint, factory fresh condition.  It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new.  This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in SR malachite green livery with yellow boiler streamlines.  Complete with the single chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct, black solid wheels, it is absolutely stunning.  Only available for 2 years from 1981 and never re-released in this livery, this locomotive, numbered 21C166, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Locomotive drive, black roof and detailed cab interior are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item.  The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the SR icon.  It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling.  The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded condition.  The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects.  Inside the box, the original undamaged and sculptured white polystyrene surround protects the locomotive and tender.  The full length full colour graphics card that sits between the model and the clear acetate front of the box remains with this model.   The original Hornby instructions numbered R37420051981 also remain with this item.  In all respects, this item is just as complete as you could ever wish to obtain.

This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.

As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
