Hornby R265 Southern Region West Country Class Bideford
This highly collectable model is the Hornby Toplink R265 model of the SR Southern Region Battle of Britain or West Country Class steam locomotive ‘Bideford’. Toplink is the name that Hornby applies to its top of the range models and this one is no exception. This model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new. Apart from a short demo run to ensure it works, it has never seen or been on a layout and has only been removed from the protective tissue once and that was for our digipic. This rarely available 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive is finished in SR malachite green livery and with the correct, black solid wheels, it is absolutely stunning. This item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 21C119, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Triple yellow coach lines, recessed chimney and locomotive drive are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the SR insignia. It does not house the motor as this is a locomotive powered model. The tender is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is the larger Toplink picture box and it is in a bright, sharp and fully intact condition. Inside the box, an undamaged cream coloured, sculptured surround protects the locomotive. The original Hornby instructions numbered R265011096 remain with this model.
This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
