Hornby R376 LNER Class A4 Gadwall Limited Edition with certificate

This highly collectable model is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R376 model of the LNER Pacific A4 class ‘Gadwall’.  This model never appeared in any of the main Hornby brochures as it was produced as a Limited Edition model for sole distribution via the mail order catalogue company ‘Kays’ in 1995.  Originally christened ‘Gadwall’ in 1938 it retained this name for only 1 year before being changed to ‘Sir Ralph Wedgwood’ in 1939 as a tribute to the retiring Chief General Manager of the same name.  The model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new.  It has never seen or been on a layout.  This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in LNER blue preservation livery with the correct, red spoked, colour coded wheels and it is absolutely stunning.  With a production run of only 1500, this item was constructed in the modern manner.  This locomotive, numbered 4469, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Wired handrails and brass cab detailing are just 2 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item.  The 8-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked LNER.   It houses the motor and is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is in a bright, unfaded and intact condition with only some minor storage and surface markings.  The yellow original Limited Edition sticker remains in place.  The right hand box end flap has the original yellow label with the correct model number and description and inside the box, the locomotive is protected by a clear, sculptured surround.  The instruction sheet numbered R376024795 remains with the model, as does the signed Limited Edition certificate .  To complete the listing the still sealed packet that contains the driver and fireman figurines remains with this item.  This model would perfectly match the other A4 Pacific’s that we are also selling at this time on Ebay so if you are looking to expand your A4 collection, now is the time to do it!

This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.

As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
