Hornby R794 BR Class 370 APT Advanced Passenger Train Pack
This item is a complete Hornby R794 Class 370 British Rail Advanced Passenger Train. It is in excellent, virtually unmarked condition and was serviced last year so everything that should work does work. Commonly known as the APT, this 5-car set has to be run as one complete train. Its advanced couplings that allow the train to tilt around bends make the unit unsuitable to be coupled to any other rolling stock. The train comprises 2 end cars, two saloon cars and the all important centre power car. The power cars roof mounted electrical insulators are all intact and a replacement metal pantograph is also present. The power car is clearly marked with the name ‘City of Derby’ and this entire train was from the original R794 Train Pack introduced in 1980. It is recognised by the black fronts to the end cars that also feature working lights in the direction of operation.
As mentioned this item has been run and although UNBOXED , it will be very securely and safely packaged for the journey to its new home. It has no obvious faults but does have a replacement metal pantograph as previously mentioned. All roof mounted electrical insulators are in place and intact. The original of this train is sitting in one of Pete Waterman’s many sidings so this is a good opportunity to obtain a model of a piece of history that is now over 30 years old and will never be made again.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
