Hornby R593 British Rail Class 90 electric pantograph locomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R593 British Rail Class 90 Bo-Bo overhead electric pantograph locomotive. This item is in mint, factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first despatched from the factory. It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This rarely available locomotive is finished in the instantly recognizable BR inter city two tone grey livery. It is extremely well factory detailed and all roof top electrical insulators are in place and undamaged. Complete with the yellow warning panel ends, full cab glazing & black circular buffers, it is absolutely stunning. Only available for I year from 1990 and never re-released, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 90030, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Unlike the latest Hornby models that feature an inoperative pantograph, this model has the working pantograph that allows the loco to be powered from the track, or the overhead catenary system, by a selector switch on the roof of the locomotive. This allows 2 separately controlled trains to simultaneously run over the same length of track so giving a far more interesting and realistic train operation. If catenary is not in operation it can be operated via the rails in the usual way. The model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded & fully intact condition. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects. Inside the box, the model is protected by the original and undamaged clear sculptured surround. The original operating and maintenance instructions numbered R593061191 remain with this model.
This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
