Hornby R084 Br Schools Class Clifton steam tender locomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby Limited Edition R084 British Rail/Southern Region Schools Class steam locomotive ‘Clifton’. This model is in mint, factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first despatched from the factory. It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This rarely available 4-4-0 steam locomotive is finished in BR black livery with red and white coach lines. Complete with the black wind deflectors, copper pipe work and intricate valve gear, it is absolutely stunning. Constructed in the modern manner, it was only available for 1 year in 1984 and never re-released. This locomotive, numbered 30927, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Black multi spoke wheels, wired handrails and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel none corridor tender that houses the motor is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon. It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling and like the locomotive, also features the bright red buffer beam. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition. It has only minimal storage surface marks and is correctly labelled for the contents it protects. Inside the box, the original undamaged and sculptured polystyrene surround protects the locomotive and tender. The still sealed super detail packet remains with the item. This model is just as good a quality as you could ever hope to obtain and is fast becoming a very scarce item indeed.
This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
