Hornby R308 LMS Class 5XP Patriot Class Lord Rathmore tender loco
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R308 London Midland Scottish Region Patriot Class 5XP steam locomotive ‘Lord Rathmore’. Fowler’s rebuild of the LMS ‘Baby Scot’, this item is in mint, factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first despatched from the factory. It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This rarely available 4-6-0 model is finished in LMS crimson livery with gold lettering. Complete with the single chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct, black multi spoked wheels it is absolutely stunning. Only available for 2 years from 1995 and never re-released, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 5533, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, detailed cab interior and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel rivet faced none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked LMS with the matching gold coach lines. The tender houses the motor and it is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition with just some light surface scuffs and markings. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects but as there is no clear fronted acetate window, the buyer will need to provide this himself if so required. Inside the box, the locomotive is protected by a one piece moulded clear plastic surround. The whole item is just as good a condition as you could ever hope to obtain and is supplied with the original instructions numbered R30817595. To complete the listing, the still sealed packet that contains the driver and fireman figurines also remains with this item.
This item predates digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
