Hornby R860 BR Shire/Hunt Class The Pytchley steam tender engine

This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R860 model of the BR class D49/1 Shire/Hunt steam locomotive ‘The Pytchley’.  This model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new.  It has never seen or been on a layout.  This very rarely available 4-4-0 locomotive is finished in BR black livery and features the correct, black multi spoked wheels.  It is absolutely stunning.  Only available for a 1-year period in 1988, and never repeated, this item was constructed in the modern manner as self-coloured, ie not painted.  This locomotive, numbered 62750, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Wired handrails, Pytchley icon and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item.  The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon and double red/white coach line.   It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling and houses the motor for the model.  The original box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition with only a slight separation of the top edge of the box that can be clearly seen in the digipic.  The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects and inside the box an undamaged, clear plastic moulded surround protects the locomotive.   The still sealed polythene super detail pack that contains the fireman and driver figurines remains with this item, as do the original instructions numbered R8602028689.  This model is just as complete as you could ever hope to obtain.  This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.

As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
