Hornby R830 GWR Saint Class Saint David steam tender locomotive

This highly collectable model is the original and extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R830 model of the Great Western Region GWR 29XX ‘Saint class’ steam locomotive ‘Saint David.  The model is in mint factory fresh condition.  It has never seen or been on a layout.  This rarely available 4-6-0 locomotive is finished in Great Western green livery and with the correct black spoked wheels, is absolutely stunning.  Only available for a 1-year period between 1986 and 1987, this item was constructed in the modern manner.  This locomotive, numbered 2920, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.   We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Wired handrails, red boiler bands and copper topped chimney are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative locomotive.  The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the Great Western icon and matching double red coach lines.   It houses the motor and, like the front of the engine, is fitted with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling.  The original box is in a bright, sharp and fully intact condition.    The right hand end flap of the box has the original label with the correct model number and description.  This end is sun faded.  Inside the box, an undamaged and sculptured polystyrene surround protects the locomotive.  The original Zero 1 installation instructions and operating/maintenance instructions numbered R830281111986 remain with this item.  The full length monochrome display card that sits in between the model and the clear acetate front of the box also remains with this item.  This item predates modern digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.  In every respect this item is just as good as you could ever hope to obtain and it will be a bargain for the fortunate winner.

As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
