Hornby R2097 ex GWR BR County of Gloucester tender locomotive
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R2097 model of the ex GWR now BR County class steam locomotive ‘County of Gloucester’. This model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored since new. It has never seen or been on a layout and has only been test run for demonstration purposes. This rarely available 4-6-0 locomotive is finished in BR black livery with red boiler bands and the correct, black multi spoked wheels. It is absolutely stunning. Only available for a 1-year period from 1999, this item was designed in England and constructed in China in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 1015, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, copper chimney/dome and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon. It is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling but does not house the motor as this item is locomotive driven. The original box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects and inside the box, a white undamaged, moulded polystyrene surround protects the locomotive. Remaining with the item are the original Hornby operation and maintenance instructions numbered R2097120399. The condition of the whole model is as good as you could ever hope to obtain and you are unlikely to source a better item.
This item predates the latest digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
