Hornby R2083 LMS Black Class 5 steam tender locomotive Ltd Edn
This highly collectable and powerful item is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R2083 LMS black Class 5 steam locomotive. It is a Limited Edition item of just 1500 individually certificated examples produced for worldwide distribution by the catalogue company Kay’s in 1998. This item is in mint, factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first despatched from the factory. It has never seen, or been on a layout, and has been stored in the box since new. This rarely available 4-6-0 model is finished in LMS all black 1946 livery. Complete with the single chimney, intricate valve gear and the correct, black multi spoked wheels it is absolutely stunning. Only available for 1 year from 1998 and never re-released, this item was constructed in the modern manner. This locomotive, numbered 5379, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, round dome and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative item. The 6-wheel smooth faced none corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the LMS insignia. The tender houses the motor and it is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original Hornby box is in a bright, sharp, unfaded and fully intact condition. The box is correctly labelled for the contents it protects and inside the box the model sits inside an undamaged one piece polystyrene surround. Both the original white display card and the original instructions numbered R20831809986 remain with this model. To complete the listing, the still sealed packet that contains the super detail accessories and the driver and fireman figurines and the Limited Edition certificate numbered 648 of 1500 remain with the item . The whole item is just as good and complete as you could ever hope to obtain.
This item predates the latest digital control but should be an easy conversion to be DCC ready with the correct Hornby chip.
As all of our items are collectables and may have been stored for a long time, we would recommend that if the model is to be run, a light lubrication and dust removal would be appropriate ( where applicable ).
