Hornby R398 LNER Class A1 4472 Flying Scotsman steam locomotive

This highly collectable model is the original and powerful Hornby R398 Class A1 LNER 4-6-2 steam locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’. This locomotive/model is in mint factory fresh condition and is just as good as the day it was first made.  It has been display stored since new and apart from a test run, has never seen, or been, on a layout.  This rarely available locomotive is finished in LNER green livery and with the correct factory colour coded and spoked wheels, it is absolutely stunning.  Constructed in the modern manner in 1981, it was the only model to feature the round dome as opposed to the more common banjo type.  This locomotive, numbered 4472, is as new and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Wired handrails, white boiler bands and brass whistles are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of this item and the model is just a beautifully made evocative item.   The 8-wheel corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked LNER.  It houses the motor and just like the locomotive, is fitted with a Hornby tension lock coupling.  The loco and tender will need a light dusting before use.  The original box is in a bright, sharp, intact condition with just a few surface scuffs picked up over the years.  It is correctly labelled for the contents it protects.  Inside the box, the undamaged white 2 part polystyrene moulding protects the model and the full length full colour undamaged graphics card that sits between the model and the clear acetate front of the box remains in place.  The model also includes the still sealed packet with the driver and fireman figurines as well as the additional super detail items.  To complete the listing the original instructions sheet and Zero1 installation sheet remain with this model.  In all respects, this item is in exactly the condition you would wish to receive it.  Please note this model is 1981 so not DCC ready!
