Hornby R2101 BR Class A4 Golden Fleece steam locomotive
This highly collectable model is the original and extremely hard to get hold of Hornby R2101 British Rail, BR, originally LNER, A4 class steam locomotive Golden Fleece. This later model Super Detail version is in factory fresh mint condition and has been shelf stored since new. It is still wrapped in the original Hornby despatch protective issue. This rarely available 4-6-2 locomotive is finished in BR matt green livery and with the correct black spoked wheels, is absolutely stunning. Only available for a 1-year period from 1999 and never repeated, this item was constructed in the modern manner as self-coloured, ie not painted. This locomotive, numbered 60030, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be impossible to obtain a better condition item. We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be. Wired handrails, double orange boiler bands, double chimney and brass whistles are just 4 of the instantly recognizable features of this item. The model is just a beautifully made evocative locomotive. The 8-wheel corridor tender is in just as mint condition and is clearly marked with the BR icon. It houses the motor and is fitted at the rear with the correct Hornby tension lock coupling. The original box is in a bright, unfaded and sharp condition. It is correctly labelled for the contents it protects. Inside the box, an undamaged and sculptured polystyrene surround protects the locomotive. The full length and full colour graphics card that depicts the item in the box sits between the model and the clear undamaged acetate front of the outer box. The original instructions numbered R2101230699 remain with this model, as do the 2 still sealed packets that contain the original driver and fireman and driver figurines and the additional super detail accessories. In all respects this model is in exactly the condition you would wish to receive it and such examples are becoming increasingly difficult to source in this condition. It slightly predates the availability of DCC but should be an easy conversion with the correct Hornby chip.
