Hornby R2120 Class 86 Anglia Railways NHS 50 pantograph locomotive

This highly collectable model is the extremely hard to get hold of Hornby Railways R2120 model of the Anglia Railways Class 86 electric locomotive ‘NHS 50’.  The model is in mint factory fresh condition and has been shelf stored for many years.  Apart from a recent demo run to ensure it works, it has never seen or been on a layout.  This rarely available Bo-Bo locomotive is finished in Anglia Railways turquoise livery and with the correct, yellow warning panel ends and grey roof, is absolutely stunning.  The nameplate features silver writing of the locomotive name on a black background and is on both sides of the locomotive.  Only available for a one year period in 1999 to celebrate the 50^th anniversary of the NHS, this item was constructed in the modern manner.  This locomotive, numbered 86218, is just as good as the day it was first made and it would be difficult to obtain a better condition item.  We removed the model from the box for the digital scan and the model has all detailing exactly as it should be.  Glass windows, fully detailed cab interior and the completely intact orange electrical insulators are just 3 of the instantly recognizable features of the model and the locomotive is just a beautifully made evocative item.  Unlike the latest Hornby models that feature an inoperative pantograph, this model has the working pantograph that allows the loco to be powered from the track, or the overhead catenary system, by a selector switch on the roof of the locomotive.  This allows 2 separately controlled trains to simultaneously run over the same length of track so giving a far more interesting and realistic train operation. The original box is in a bright, unfaded, sharp and fully intact condition.  Inside the box, the locomotive is protected in a white moulded polystyrene surround.   The original Hornby instructions remain with this model and although it predates DCC, it should be an easy conversion with the correct Hornby chip.
