Bachmann Triple A4 set ‘Commonwealth of Australia’ Limited Edition
(Larger Photo) Bachmann Triple A4 set ‘Commonwealth of Australia’ Limited Edition
This is the Bachmann Limited Edition presentation set comprising 3 Class A4 steam locomotives in the 3 different available liveries for the pacific 4-6-2 steam locomotive ‘Commonwealth of Australia’. This item was only available for 1 year in 2000 and all 3 models are displayed in the Bachmann mahogany case shown in the picture. All 3 models have the motor fitted in the locomotive and each tender is fitted at the rear with a Hornby tension lock coupling. The LNER loco in blue livery is numbered 4491 and has valanced wheels, single chimney and a black roof. The matching 8-wheel tender is the corridor type. The model’s detailing is absolutely superb and in the LNER blue livery, with the red colour coded wheels, it is a very evocative example. The centre model in the picture is in BR green and is numbered 60012. It has unvalanced wheels, a double chimney and a none-corridor tender. Finally, the BR blue model with the same RN of 60012 is also unvalanced and has a double chimney and a corridor tender.
The models are in mint unrun condition and remain as new. The original Limited Edition certificate numbered 586 of the 1000 sets that were originally made, remains with the set along with the instructions and maintenance sheets for the models. The locomotives predate DCC but should be an easy conversion if you intend to run these models on a digital layout. This is a very heavy set so with the substantial packaging that we are renowned for, carriage will be very expensive if the set is sent overseas. Please ask before buying if you need a post quotation.
