This is the 1999/2000 Hornby Limited Edition Gold plated Super Detail model of the LNER Class A3 4-6-2 steam locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’. Just 2000 of these were built for worldwide distribution to celebrate the forthcoming Millennium and they are very rare models indeed. The model is finished in LNER green livery and adorned on the tender as LNER. The valve gear and other detailed items such as handrails and buffers are all in gold. Tender driven locomotive with the RN 103. The model is in its original Hornby red box with polystyrene inner protective surround, original instructions and full length white protective display card. A further silk lined box is also included with the set and this comes with the Limited Edition Certificate  and the outer box Limited Edition box band. The models are in mint, unrun, condition and the whole set will be supplied in the original outer mailer protective box. This model slightly predates DCC but with a little skill, should be an easy conversion with the right Hornby chip. However real time running is not recommended as gold is softer than nickel silver!
